Party for Babies

This weekend we held a baby shower on our (new) patio for one of my bandmates and his wife. I won't go into details about my attempt at cupcakes ("They're very unusual! Kind of dense.") but I will state for the record that I was using limited equipment and that I think the strawberry in the middle may have exuded some liquid that affected the consistency.

What a difference a little concrete makes! The patio really made the party. Husband had it all lit up with the theatrical gels for mood. Oddly, every other house on the block was having a party in their yard that night. The reggaeton blasting from the DJ table two doors down only took a smodge away from our festivities.

The kids splashed in the pool and loved playing in the little house/slide combo my Mom got Yelena for her birthday. The adults brought (and left) a TON of beer. (And this was a good beer crowd- none of that case of Coors light kinda crap) So we should be set for a few days....;)

And of course, as I learned earlier this year when I threw my friend a birthday party, having parties for other people ensures that people who have never seen your house will come over and you will receive compliments, re-enforcing your decorating choices. huzzoo! In fact, I hearby resolve to throw parties for other persons on regular basis. Let me know if you have an upcoming event I can host.

The shower itself was pretty much just a party with presents. But I wasn't about to make anyone play any dumb-ass games. It is just a celebration of the new one on the way! I think the parents both had a good time and that's the important thing. And of course they got tons of super-cool city baby shwag from all their friends. Little Torsten will definitely be the hippest baby on the block- at least until he hits 3 months....;)

Sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully there will be a beer left when I get to see you. I'm anxious to see the handy work on the patio!

I need more "good beer" friends-- I still have a fridge full of Coors Lights from the party a few weeks ago!!

Sounds like you all had a great time though...

Is it bad that I just tell people who bring bad beer that they make sure "they drink it or take it home with them"? Maybe that's rude......but surely not as rude as showing up with a six pack of bud light.

was this tommy and brittney's babyshower? Surely not Gar, and I can't believe Dan & Lisa have another one coming already...
