I stayed up way too late last night finishing up a 2-day marathon read of the Harry Potter book.
I am tired and my eyes are swollen but it was worth it.
Husband got a little frustrated with me last night when I expressed an unwillingness to tear myself away from the book to have a necessary conversation about our next Harvey venture.
Not to excuse my behavior, but Husband is not a big reader. I surmise that he does not understand what it is like to be all-consumed by a book.
It doesn't happen all that often, but when it does it can be very distracting for me. And as evidenced above, irritating for those around me.
What about you? Can a book suck you in so much that all you can think about is when you can get back to it? Can a book lead you to put off necessary tasks? Cancel plans? Tell me your stories and the books that caused them!

I get sucked into books all the time. And it's not just that I can't stop thinking about the book, it's that I emerge from the book blearily, wondering why my house isn't full of wizards or thinking that Anne of Green Gables is going to come into the kitchen any moment now.
Jon, I feel your pain!!
It doesn't happen often to me and in fact is usually a Harry Potter book! I stay up way too late reading, ignoring all common sense and do the same thing the next night even though I'm dead tired. The scenario repeats night after night until I've finished. In fact, it will happen tonight as well!!
Hee! Hubs bought me the book as a surprise, and I had a two-day reading marathon, too (in spite of the 5 kid distraction!). I love that feeling when a book is so absorbing that you can't put it down.
considering I can barely remember birthdays, the title of a book may be hard to dig up.
Lisa, I'm actually really enjoying Pavillion of Women, by the Pearl writer. I can't wait to go to China!
