Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines to all of you.

I am OTR, with two big pimples on my chin for added attractiveness. I didn't have time to get my makeup on before I left the house and since I am pondering riding my bike home (for the first time in a month!) I've decided not to bother with it.

Everyone always says, "Oh Valentines Day is just a hallmark holiday." A holiday made up to make us spend more money, and hey- shouldn't we be celebrating our love on a daily basis? And there have been many years when I've felt this way, and it is never a holiday Husband and I have taken too seriously.

But somehow I am finding it more meaningful this year. For one, I have a child that is just old enough to understand it. We signed Valentines for her class last night and it reminded me of my own childhood and those decorated shoe boxes full of store-bought valentines. What fun it was to go through all of them. Working with my mom to carefully tape a cheap heart-shaped lolly-pop to the back of each one I would give.

On the Husband side, time and children make it harder for you to remember to carve time out for you and your relationship. Of course you make an effort all through the year, but the holiday serves as an additional reminder to tell your partner how much they mean to you and how much you want to be with them. Not to mention to find the time to be with them and them alone.

Hope you all find the time today to express your love to those you love!

Since I'm out of town, I had made my love a dinner before I left (the souffle meal). She on the other had got really sick the morning I was leaving so was knocked out in bed. Or so I thought, because when I got to my hotel in LA and opened my bag, there was a card and a small box of chocolates.

OTR! LOL! Not that it's funny to you, but I haven't heard that in a while.

Like Mother's Day and Father's Day, today is just a day to make a special effort towards your loved one. It's not like you love your parents any less on the other days of the year. So yes, Hallmark definitely profits from the day, but I'm ok with that.

way to go mom, that is so sweet!!

I didn't tell my cat happy valentine's day, but I like to think we're more plutonic love so maybe it doesn't matter.
