Shopping in Your Closet

Since the belt-tightening commenced I have slowed down on surfing fashion websites and re-focused on street-style sites for ideas of how to wear the clothes I already have in new ways.

Some things I look for:

- Color combinations
- Layering ideas
- Mood, or "theme"

I actually still get inspiration from magazine layouts and commercial looks too. A recent NYLON spread provoked a "Woman from Snowy River" look (as my husband called it) put together from a flannel shirt of Husband's, a black fitted vest that I have had forever and some jeans tucked into flat knee- high boots.

If you keep your summer wardrobe out you automatically have double the amount of clothes to work with, although your closet is rather stuffed. It is a different sort of satisfaction to shop in your closet then to shop in a store, but when you put together a winner it still feels good!

I will try to post some pics soon.

it is comforting to know flannels still have a place in this world!
