Delightful Day

As my birthday was on a Monday, I got to have a "birthday weekend"!

It started Saturday night with a wonderful dinner party at the home of our dear friends Mr. & Mrs. H. The fact that they offered to have us over while they are still in the midst of new babyness made me extra appreciative. I learned from Mr. McD that 33 is your "Jesus Year". (That being the year when all the shizz went down apparently) Which suddenly made the event seem more meaningful to me. I am not looking forward to full on crucifixion, but could definitely use some resurrection!

Sunday, friend C in town for the weekend from a recent short term move to the DC area had us and some other friends over for an AMAZING brunch. it included some of the yummiest cinnamon rolls I've ever had- made with potato of all things! He gave me the cook book to borrow for a while so I will have to try it soon. Sunday night was band practice where we worked on a bunch of new material. A number of them have suddenly gone in new directions so it felt really good and productive.

Monday(the actual event) I took the day off work. I started the day accompanying Miss D and her preschool class on a trip to the Library. Hilariously, she kept telling all of her classmates that it was my birthday. (Not all at once mind you, one at a time) So delightful to be told happy birthday in little voices every 5 seconds or so. And then they all wished me happy birthday (again individually) when I left too! Mrs. H picked me up and she and Mr. Jones and I all went to lunch at the Chicago Diner. Conversation and company was so wonderful. An adult lunch with good friends is a rare treat! I even got a free piece of cake that I made everybody share with me. Some birthday funds had arrived so Mr. Jones and I went on to wander the neighborhood and do some shopping. For a while it looked as if I wouldn't find anything, but I did eventually locate a few items and spent less than $30! husband picked me up and surprised me with a thoughtful gift and card. We ordered sushi for dinner and had chocolate cake and ice cream . Miss D had to be restrained from blowing out the candles but she did a very nice rendition of the Happy Birthday song. Lastly, it was my first Facebook birthday. I got numerous birthday wishes from all sorts of people which was very, very nice. Yet another unexpected perk of the Facebook!

One of the very nicest birthdays I've ever had.

3 Things:
- Birthday wishes from preschoolers
- Denim skirts for $7
- Creative symmetry

The skirt sounds like a great find. Can't wait to see pictures when it makes it into an outfit.

Best wishes!
