i always feel like somebody's watching meeeeee

Once I had been blogging for a while I installed a stat counter. There are many different pieces of information compiled including how many people visit your site and what posts they look at. This is nice for the blogger who only gets a few comments per post and you wonder if anyone out there is PAYING ATTENTION.

One of the things you can track is what keywords might lead a new reader to your page, say through a search engine. Sometimes these things are funny. Mostly they are innocuous. Toeless socks is one I get a lot.

Every so often I get searched by my name, which is always a little strange. Because, you know, who is looking for me?

Maddening.

Okay, now I understand why you want to know who is looking for you. Hey, what about those ads on Facebook that say "See who is searching for you on the internet"? I'm sure it's unreasonably expensive, but it might answer your burning question. Lisa

Have you never googled an old acquaintance from ten years ago? I do it now and then - I just want to read the next chapter in their lives and hear how it all turned out.

it is a little scary but I guess it is the price of technology

It's probably just people from school or someone you recently worked with. It's unlikely to be a crazed-stalker-mass-murderer type, though I guess it could be. Feel better? :-)

Well, Stef...I may be one of your "stalkers". I never remember your blog page so I google your name. That said though, Im sure you are getting some hits from old high school/college friends. I know I have done that before just to see what the search brings up. The toeless sock search is creepy and funny! Britany
