This week has been all about a bunch of Braxton Hicks crappadoo. I did not have any of this nonsense with my first pregnancy.
Braxton Hicks - for those of you who have never had the pleasure- are actual contractions but they are "unproductive". Meaning they are uncomfortable and or painful but don't contribute to actually having a goddamn baby.
Here's how the week has gone so far:
Friday Night: Woken at 3AM by pain. Lasts about an hour. Go downstairs and watch TV. Is this it? What needs to be done? an hour later realize i am falling asleep on the couch and go back to bed.
Saturday Afternoon: They're baaaack. This time i am not so easily fooled. Lie on the couch grumpy.
Monday Night: Woken up intermittently with pains through the night, but manage to go back to sleep each time.
Tuesday Most of the Day: They occur on and off for most of the day. I allow myself to get a little excited when they seem to be getting more painful and i take a long walk thinking they will either stop or progress. Sadly, it is eventually the former.
Tuesday Night: Woken by them at 1AM very sharp. (But not labor sharp, you mommies know what I mean) Toss and turn waiting to see if they are going to go anywhere. "This is a terrible time....We will have to get out the air mattress for the sitter......Can you wait a few more hours baby?....Oh nevermind, just please come now and let's get this over with!" 1 hour later they have stopped but I am too hyped up to sleep so go downstairs to watch TV for a while.
By yesterday, the lack of sleep and discomfort not to mention all the hormones have combined to make one very grumpy pregnant woman. The thought of having to endure this for another 2 weeks was.....fill in the blank.
Blessedly, i have been given a reprieve and haven't had any bad bouts since Tuesday night. I actually got a full (pregnancy*) nights sleep last night. And that's good because according to the doctor today there hasn't been any change since last week. Sighz.
*meaning still waking up every couple of hours to pee or turn myself over
