How did that happen?

I'm not quite sure how I've managed to go so long without posting. The holiday has been a mixed bag around here.

On the up side, Miss D had a wonderful time opening all of her gifts and was 100% on board the Santa train this year which was so much fun- not to mention a fabulous behavioral tool.

On the down side, I noticed her voice sounded funny. She never complained of pain and never had any other symptoms, but when I finally thought to look at her throat her tonsils were super swollen and covered in white junk. Husband took her to the doctor the day before Christmas Eve and the nurse practitioner said that if Miss D's tonsils got any bigger she would not be able to breathe.

!!!

So she got a prescription for steroids and woken up several times in the middle of the night as I checked on her to make sure she was still breathing.

On Christmas Day both Husband and baby started acting sick- albeit with completely different symptoms. Yesterday was the worst for baby. He was barely eating and had a terrible cough. A bunch of thick goo he couldn't get out. Last night it finally hit me. Nothing like caring for a sick baby when you feel like shit.

As of this afternoon we all seem to be on the mend. And I am just relieved that we are all relatively unscathed. There is nothing like a sick child to make you feel utterly helpless. ugh

We have been dealing with illnesses as well. T just got over bronchiolitis and is now battling an ear infection in both ears! And now Tommy is now sick as well. You're right, there really is nothing that makes you feel more helpless than dealing with a sick child. Child rearing - so rewarding and so f-ing scary. Glad to hear you and fam are doing better. Hope it keeps going in that direction! Happy holidays! -Britany

So glad you are all feeling better. I've been fighting off a cold all week. But I only have to worry about taking care of me! Hope A & S don't get it as well.

Sorry baby - nothing makes you feel more helpless than when one of your children is really sick.

I feel like the holidays never go by without one of us getting sick. This year was weird. J had a fever on the 23rd (high - like 102), it went down on the 24th and back up on the 25th, then went away. No other symptoms. Hope you are all well. It's especially difficult when you have an infant because it seems like they get hit harder and there is less medicine that you can give them for fevers and other stuff. Lisa
