Give a Little- Get a Little

I had been toying with the idea that I should find a volunteer opportunity. A positive, proactive way to spend a few hours a week. Maybe even something that might inspire a new career path. Last week the perfect thing dropped into my lap and I'm really excited about it.

I'll tell you more about the actual work later, this post is more about an interesting chain of events that followed.

The project is run through the same non-profit that runs Miss D's preschool. I read about it in the monthly newsletter, thought it was a great idea and touched on some topics I feel really strongly about. I sent the contact an email outlining a few ways by experience and expertise could be utilized. Had a meeting with them this week and offered them my time, and they suggested they would try to find me a stipend! Which - whether it happens or not- was a totally unexpected bonus. Also, it turns out they needed a garden designer ASAP. I suggested a friend. Well, said friend is putting in a bid, and as part of the bid, offered some carpentry work to Husband. So if friend lands the gig, it will be a few dollars for Husband too!

It just goes to show that if you put a little out into the universe, it will come back 10fold. Sometimes really quickly!

Excellent. Plus you never know what contacts you can make when you're out there.
