Style Journey- A moment of reflection

I went to my book club last night and was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only are people following my little style journey with some interest- but some are maybe even a little inspired! Kegz and Danimal may even go on a male shopping trip together- I told them if they do that they have to take pics and post them! As we discussed last night, what creating style requires is Time, Energy and $- all you have to do is make the commitment to putting that into it. If you do decide to go on your own style journey, I'd love to hear about your adventures in the comments or you can send me an email.

A word about commenting. Obviously i have no shame as I have been posting a fair amount of unflattering pics.;) Don't worry about not feeling that you have anything to say about any of the ensembles or if it is not positive. Not every one's ideas of fashion are the same- so I won't be offended if you don't agree with me! The reason I decided to pursue this project in a public forum was to keep me motivated to follow through with it and any constructive criticism is welcome. Of course an encouraging word is also appreciated. ;) (not necessarily on a specific outfit or style choice but the process in general)

There is lots of exciting stuff in the works including new hair color, closet organization (which should be hilarious since I have about 5 things in there) and of course- shopping! And of course, the fabulous Mr. Jones has yet to work his magic on me. So stay tuned...

Well I for one am really enjoying your style journey! Very cool that you're taking it so seriously and following all the steps (even if not in the right order) to make yourself look and feel better. You go girl! (And in response your post: You are welcome at our parties any time!)

stef,

I have also been reading and enjoying the style journey-- it looks like you are having (some) fun and making lots of progress. I somehow stumbled onto my own sense of style w/o really meaning to... I wear what I like and somehow end up getting lots of compliments! My secret weapons: LOEHMANNS-- great bargains, unique pieces that always have people asking "where di you get that??" Old navy/target for cheap basics, and anthropologie for when I want to splurge (although recently I think of my purchases there as "investments"-- great clothes that are really well made and last forever).

X

P.S. Love the new haircut!

I hope that the closet organization post has many pictures. I think a post on arranging five outfits would be hilarious...but then again as Lakeview has noted, I my sense of humor is a tad off the beaten path

I am just so thrilled you're looking into this aspect of your life. It's gotta be a lot of fun for you to be going through this sort of metamorphasis. And don't worry about being honest, I don't think I've ever been accused of beating around the bush. :P

I, too, am really enjoying your style journey (tho it has spurred Hubs to comment on how I should maybe start a journey of my own. Wonder what he's getting at...). I love all those style shows and I have a few books, but, honestly, I wear my uniform everyday and then change into sweats. I've had three kids, so I have every size in the book in my wardrobe, and I wear sandals that I've had since high school. Watching your journey is truly inspiring!
