Style Journey- Ready for Accessories?

If you think you've seen this jacket before you have. I'm trying to get a little more inspired with my self portraits for these style posts.

I was pretty happy with this ensemble, I like the retro-y feel and the unusual color combo. looking at the pic though I feel that some accessories could have really taken it up a notch.

I've been thinking a lot about accessories, jewelery in particular. I actually did wear jewelery in middle school but when I went to arts highschool, we always had to take off everything for class. (Lots of rolling around on the floor) So I just stopped wearing it. Now that I'd like to start again I'm not sure how to go about it. Necklaces I can sort of get but rings and bracelets totally elude me. I also have no idea how to shop for jewelery. There's tons of places where you can buy cheap knock off trendy pieces or nicer pieces on sale. But when I see it in the store i just have no concept of how to translate it to my wardrobe, so I end up not buying anything. Any ideas of how to get started?

You look fabulous! I love your hair with the ribbon in it. In terms of jewelry, I'm not that into rings (though Xani is definitely) but I like to wear a chunky bracelet every now and again. I recommend Target for funky, cheap jewelry - I get compliments on my Target jewelry all the time!

Sorry, I'm about as clueless as you are - I own one fake pearl necklace.

the things to focus on for starters I'd say is the neckline and proportion. The neckline of your shirt determines where the necklace should fall, and how big if any earing to wear. Also never wear any accessories that make your torso look massive ( = proportion).

If i see a picture of you wearing a scarf I will faint with pride.
