Ta Da! (Finished Yard with Plants)

Most of the plants are native. The grasses on the left will grow fairly tall and give us some more privacy without completely blocking off the neighbours

I have of course, completely forgotten all the names of the plants but I know the pink ones are coneflowers and they attract lots of butterflies. It looks sparsely planted because all these plants will come back in force next year. Th grass in the foreground of this picture is a "fountain" grass which will also get quite big and will provide an interesting shape in the winter and fall.

We are already spending ALL our time out here, which explains why poor Miss D has all those skeeter bites.

UPDATE FROM YESTERDAY: Per the Doctor, Miss D's swollen foot is due to a wasp sting or some such. (Which I guess didn't hurt her when it happened...?) We are using a topical steroid cream and she should be back at school today but if the swelling doesn't go down we will have to get her some ingestible steroid treatment. Remarkably, it doesn't seem to bother her very much. She does seem to enjoy the extra movies we let her watch in an effort to bribe her into sitting still with her foot elevated- and having everything handed to her by her worried parents. :)

Nice back yard!! I love hubs coming around the corner with the "what the hell are you doing" look on his face. Ha!

Yay for Miss D. Nothing too serious. BTW, if I get stung by a wasp, I don't care where you are in the city, you'll know about it. It'll be like a freakin' air raid siren.

Yes, I really like the addition of the plants and it will be greater still as they mature.

I love the idea of using grass to give you privacy from the neighbors. I can't wait to see all the plants in their prime next summer! We now have a very clear view of our neighbor's house (behind us) as she has cleared out all the dead trees and all the bushes that added greenery to the top of our mutual wall. Hopefully by the time we get back from the reunion she will have done something to add privacy again!
