Last Week

Surprisingly, I never expected my week off to fly by like it did. I honestly thought I would be here blogging every day as usual. But I managed to pack the week and every single day we had something to do.

I know this was not an accurate reflection of what being a SAHM would be like, but it was much more enjoyable than I anticipated. I was concerned that spending the whole day with Miss D would wear me out. But it never really did, even though she never napped! She is really such a good kid- never had a meltdown unless she was tired or hungry which is to be expected. It was wonderful being able to spend time with her on her own timeframe. Not feeling like we had to hurry up so we could go somewhere else or get something done. Here’s what we did:

- Spent a very long day at the zoo. Including a visit to the Lincoln Park Conservatory, the farm part and watching a busker marionette show.
- Took her to an appointment with a talent agency. (She did well, but there is not a lot of work for kids her age)
- Went to a friends house for a very long playdate (all day!)
- Took her downtown to get some copies of her birth certificate. (Shortest amount of time in a government agency EVER), went to the Harold Washington Library and had pizza for lunch.
- Had a friend over for a very long playdate (all day!)
- Baked: corn muffins, blueberry muffins, pain de campagne, chocolate chip cookies and pain d’ancienne.
- Went to two grown-up parties. One in the evening and one for brunch (over the weekend)
- Made all the components of her Halloween costume. (A bowl of macaroni and cheese) Still needs to be assembled.
- Visited the pumpkin patch (Saturday), went on a hayride, saw a terrible puppet show and got some very lovely pumpkins. Still need to be carved.

Whew! I think that’s it.

Yowza, that is packed! All day playdates sound exhausting. A pumpkin patch sounds fun!!!

Thanks for spending a day with us! We had a great time and I can't wait to see the little macaroni and cheese costume.

Well done. I think you can truthfully label last week as "well-enjoyed."

Sounds like a great time! She is very lucky -- like we were -- to have parents who love to cook and who involve her in it from very early on. What a fab week!

How great for her - I wish Mom would spend that much time doing things for me :)
