Teacher Appreciation Week

I don't remember having Teacher Appreciation week as I was coming up, but perhaps I have just blocked it. Or I don't remember because it was mainly my Mother doing the work. ;)

One of the things I am SO SO grateful for is that we found a wonderful preschool for my daughter. Every single staff member there is great. There hasn't been a situation yet that I don't feel they handled appropriately and well. Miss D enjoys being there and likes her teachers and friends.

Picking gifts for teachers is difficult. Will they like the handmade item? Probably, but how many decorated flowerpots, mugs, aprons, bags, etc can one person really handle after several years in the position? Also, the administrators always have the children put together a book for each teacher where they write stuff about them and/or draw a picture, etc.

This year I got her teachers movie tickets, which I'm hoping they will like. And this morning we dropped off a bunch of bagels and cream cheese for the admin staff and other teachers to enjoy. Hopefully that will be enough!

I think the movie tickets are a great idea. Everyone likes SOME kind of movie.

Unless your school situation is unusual, you probably did a lot more than most parents. I'm sure it was all appreciated! I don't remember a teacher appreciation week. Christmas and the end of the school was more the time to give teachers gifts.

I think teachers like anything money oriented: movie tickets and food are huge hits I would think. Art by the kidz.....not so much.

Genuine expressions of appreciation - especially verbal or written - is something that anyone who instructs children really appreciate. I know that I did when I was coaching.

I think they'll enjoy the gifts - that is truly a joy when you can find a good school

Thanks for reminding me about teacher appreciation week! And isn't it such a relief to have a school that you like? It's too bad they don't have a grade school, too. Lisa
