Purging

So I briefly mentioned yesterday that husband and I are having a yard sale. But I don't think you understand the magnitude of this undertaking.

First of all, we are both packrats. Secondly, we moved into a house that effectively doubled our storage space- mainly in the unfinished basement. So basically, anything that we weren't sure what to do with that we thought we might want later ended up down there.

We also have a lot of stuff from our businesses. Like our puppet company(s) and my band. We had so much old poster board and broken props. We still have to go through all the office stuff and weed out documents we no longer need.

I'm finding that it feels really good to purge. The basement already looks so much roomier. And as a bonus, any money we make will be icing for our little trip!

Careful on this purging business - before you know it out will go half your co-workers to a Gulag.

Isn't it fun to purge? Something nice about having more room in the closet.

Hee, I was thinking similar thoughts, Dad. Maybe the word purge isn't the best ;0)

There's this service here in LA that will pick up all your extra crap, catalog and estimate its worth, then list and sell it on Ebay for you. I have yet to call them, but I have a feeling whatever fee they charge would be well worth not having to do it myself!

that's a brilliant idea lisa! I wish I had stuff to sell so I could cover the #@%%@!! agent fee I'll have to pay.

no way! I have been thinking to myself that I could probably make a lot more money off some of these items by selling them on ebay but i can't be f*cked to do it.
Worth looking into i'm sure...

Yes, doesn't it feel great to get rid of stuff? I love that feeling of lightness - "Encumbering junk, be gone!"

Garage sales are awesome! My parents used to have them a couple of times a year and make $300-$600. Of course, that meant I didn't have toys for too long....sigh.....
